Pathology of Infancy and Childhood Not very long ago the pathologic examination of infants was relegated to the lowest man on the pathology totem pole. This may still happen occasionally, but it is now uncommon; an important reason for the change has been the appearance of monographs devoted to this subject, headed in this country by Edith Potter's modern classic. Now Kissane and Smith's book becomes a worthy addition. It is very well written and readable. The illustrations are excellent, abundant, well labeled; all are in black and white. They are supplemented by instructive diagrams. The pathology of later childhood receives excellent coverage, but some phases of new-born pathology do not receive the attention they deserve. For instance, there is no discussion of "monsters" and other generalized congenital anomalies, although congenital defects of individual organs are well covered.
