Abstract The artistic aspect of oculoplastic surgery and prosthetics becomes readily apparent from reading the chapters in this edition of the International Ophthalmology Clinics, which emphasizes the significance of cooperation and, in fact, the development of a form of symbiosis between the ophthalmic surgeon and ocularist for best cosmetic patient results. Twenty authors, noted ophthalmologists and ocularists, have delved into the aspects of the wide variety of topics related to anophthalmos. The methods of enucleation, evisceration, fitting of implants and conformers are widely and aptly discussed under the heading of "Contemporary Procedures." A dissertation about scleral cosmetic shells as well as details about "Cosmetic Optics" enhance the scope of the book. The treatment of sulcus deformities, loss of the lower cul-de-sac, and other complications are well depicted from both a surgical and prosthetic point of view.
