News and Comment GENERAL Dr. F. J. Poynton Awarded Sir Dawson Williams Memorial Prize.—Dr. Frederick J. Poynton, Senior Physician to the Hospital for Sick Children, London, has received the first award of the Sir Dawson Williams Memorial Prize, consisting of 50 guineas, for his work in behalf of children with rheumatism. Philadelphia Closes Diphtheria Hospital.—Philadelphia has had such a reduction in the morbidity from diphtheria that it has been found no longer necessary to maintain a diphtheria hospital. Virginia Provides Care for Crippled Children.—Virginia has instituted a new program of state care for crippled children. Children are to be treated in their homes with the cooperation of local physicians when possible. In severer cases the patients will be sent to hospitals.
