Abstract This edition of the annals, compiled in four parts, Part I: Correlations Between Ultra Structures, Cytochemistry, and Function at the Synapse, Part II: Physiology and Pharmacology of Synaptic Transmission, Part III: Pathogenesis and Pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis, and Part IV: Clinical Advances in Myasthenia Gravis, is a well-balanced publication containing both excellent review articles and reports of progress in research on myasthenia gravis. All the contributions make interesting reading especially for the serious student of myasthenia gravis and for the scientific investigator. For the busy ophthalmologist the clinical section is particularly recommended. In an "overview" of diagnostic tests in myasthenia gravis, Foldes and Glaser emphasize the difficulty of differentiating mild cases of myasthenia gravis from "psychiatric fatigue." Their paper also provides useful comment on the value of electrical and mechanical diagnostic tests and the role of pneumomediastinography and thymic venography.
