MILROY'S MEDIO-TARSAL AMPUTATION.

MILROY'S MEDIO-TARSAL AMPUTATION. Under this title was published, in The Journal of March 30, in the columns for Medical Progress, the report of a case copied from the Glasgow Medical Journal, of March, 1889. The case was one of medio-tarsal amputation performed on account of severe injury of the foot, by Dr. Milroy, of Kilwinning, Scotland, September 7, 1885, and reported by him to the Surgical Section of the Medico-Chirurgical Society of Glasgow, January 25, 1889. It was spoken of as a new operation, and its advantages compared with those of the operations of Chopart, Syme and others. Since the appearance of Dr. Milroy's case in this journal, our attention has been called to the fact that an operation nearly identical with it, had been performed several times prior to 1874 by Dr. S. F. Forbes, of Toledo, Ohio, and the operation fully described by him in a paper read at the annual http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png JAMA American Medical Association
