The author has achieved his stated aim, to provide a practical and brief source of information on skin disease for the general practitioner. It provides details of all but the rare dermatological complaints. It also provides concise and clearly defined details of the treatment of common skin disease. The book is both readable, containing appropriate anecdotes and "therapeutic pearls," and is simple to use as a reference manual. Its chapter headings lead one to a disease with similar lesions or distributions. Each chapter is followed by a bibliography providing references for further reading and the book is provided with an "index-dictionary" containing both references to the text and brief details of some of the rarer skin diseases. Pediatric dermatology occupies an appreciable part of the book and is adequate for the common skin lesions seen in children.
