Presented by Dr. Irwin Kantor. A 66-year-old white woman was first seen on Jan 13, 1967. At this time she gave a history of having a pruritic eruption on the buttocks and back which had been treated with a steroid ointment with some relief. Her general health has been good and the only significant feature to be noted is that she had one attack of herpes zoster.Physical examination showed that over the right buttock area there was a patch of edema with a clearing soft center and a suggestion of violaceous discoloration on the periphery. On the trunk, arms, and legs there were several small papules associated with a generally dry and scaling skin. A biopsy specimen was taken from the right buttock area and the report was given.
