GASTRIC ACIDITY IN ACNE VULGARIS WITH A CONSIDERATION OF NORMAL GASTRIC ACIDITY: REPORT OF FRACTIONAL GASTRIC ANALYSIS IN NINETY-THREE CASES

GASTRIC ACIDITY IN ACNE VULGARIS WITH A CONSIDERATION OF NORMAL GASTRIC ACIDITY: REPORT OF... Abstract NORMAL GASTRIC ACIDITY In evaluating the results obtained in the fractional analyses of the gastric contents of 93 patients with acne vulgaris reported in this paper, it is obviously necessary to compare the average values for gastric acidity obtained for normal persons. Numerous investigations on gastric acidity in normal persons have been reported in the literature, but the results are not as a rule suitable for statistical analysis. It has also been shown recently that gastric acidity is partly a function of age and sex;1 these factors have been almost entirely ignored in previous reports. The type of test meal used must also be taken into consideration. That there are different assumed normal standards may be seen by consulting the literature.2 The relation of the volume of the residuum during fasting to gastric motility is not altogether settled; in addition, the volume of the residuum during this period References 1.
