Essentials of Orthopædics

Essentials of Orthopædics The contents of this book reflect the author's extensive experience in the field of orthopedics. The essential subjects are covered in a standard manner but are presented from the author's point of view. The material is selected and represents the generally accepted current conceptions. No space is given to historical development, and there is no chapter on fractures. The first two chapters are concerned with postural defects and back pain, which are encountered with greatest frequency in clinical orthopedic practice. In the chapter on postural defects and back pain, considerable importance is attached to the position of the hip and the condition of hip musculature in the causation and treatment of these two conditions. The author accepts weakness in the small rotators of the spine to be the most logical causative basis for idiopathic scoliosis. Considerable space is allotted to various changes in the intervertebral disk. The main portion of http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png JAMA American Medical Association
