Enterococcal Endocarditis: A Rare Cause of Focal Cardiac Uptake in Infarct-Avid Myocardial Scintigraphy

Enterococcal Endocarditis: A Rare Cause of Focal Cardiac Uptake in Infarct-Avid Myocardial... Abstract • A patient with enterococcal endocarditis and mitral valve vegetations showed focal activity in the mitral valve complex in images obtained with two bone-seeking radiopharmaceutials: technetium Tc 99m pyrophosphate and technetium Tc 99m medronate. Infective endocarditis is a rare cause of focal cardiac uptake in both infarct-avid myocardial scintigraphy and routine bone imaging. (Arch Intern Med 1982;142:1360-1362) References 1.
