Deserted Island

Deserted Island I have a fantasy about a deserted island. This island is temperate, is well provisioned with water, fruits, and vegetables, and perhaps has good fishing. A safe place but no communications, no people, maybe a dog or a goat, and no way off save by a visiting ship once a twelvemonth. In this fantasy I have control of the residency requirements and the passenger manifest of the visiting steamer. I can write the prescription, which reads: Rx: One deserted island One year Sig: As directed No refills While I'm at it, and since this is fantasy, let me have as many of these islands as needed, since I'd have trouble were I forced to choose among the many who might benefit. Such a prescription could be life-giving, even lifesaving. A kind of Statue of Liberty for the weak, tired, and dizzy, for the yearning souls eager to be cocooned lest http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png JAMA American Medical Association
