Abstract This book is an excellent and comprehensive review of cryosurgery for the management of benign and malignant tumors of the skin, oral cavity, eyelids, and the head and neck. The text is directed toward the dermatologist, the head and neck surgeon, the ophthalmologist, and the plastic surgeon. The book begins with chapters on the fundamentals of cryogenesis, on techniques for developing the cryolesion, on temperature monitoring, and on the pathogenesis of cryonecrosis. The evolution of cryosurgical instrumentation and the preferred instruments and their costs are openly discussed. Of particular interest to the ophthalmologist are several chapters that include discussions of cryosurgery for benign and malignant tumors of the eyelids. An impressive chapter by Drs Crowell Beard and John Sullivan on cryosurgery of eyelid disorders including malignant tumors is included in this text and is highly recommended for ophthalmologists with an interest in cryosurgery.
