Abstract To delineate the core of pediatrics from its vast spectrum of knowledge requires boldness tempered by caution, experience, and conviction. When this core is presented to medical students, which is the purpose of this book, selectivity and emphasis are of profound importance. Three pediatric department chairmen, Kaye of Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, Oski of State University of New York Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, and Barness of the University of South Florida, Tampa, have presented what they think their students should learn about pediatrics. The book, written in collaboration with 28 other authors, most of whom are colleagues in their own cities, is assembled in an attractive way, printed on good-quality paper with soft-bound covers and offered for sale by a leading publisher for much less than the cost of a conventional textbook.
