Abstract To the Editor: —I thoroughly agree with Dr. P. Thygeson's opinion (Wearing Contact Lenses in Egypt, Correspondence, Arch. Ophthal. 66:762, 1961) and would add that if precautions against trachoma and other endemic eye diseases are to be truly complete, they should specifically include careful and common sense washing of the upper face including the lids before a contact lens is inserted.Needless to say, hygiene of the hands, and an uncontaminated supply of H2O as well as "wetting" agents and contact lens containers are basic prerequisites. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Ophthalmology American Medical Association
