I wish to call attention to the value and the importance of the study of the fundamental branches, to be evidenced in the work as it will be presented here tonight. In regard to the group who are presenting work, I feel that I should say that the announcement that this is a "symposium on the pathology of the ear, nose and throat" should not be taken literally. This presentation is to show the value of group study such as Dr. Novak has carried out for three years. The group studying pathology is new this year, and it was suggested—I think prematurely—that they should present their work. They had only a short time to prepare the work, but I think that some excellent examples of the results of group study will be shown.
