CERVICAL RIB AND THROMBOSIS OF THE SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY

CERVICAL RIB AND THROMBOSIS OF THE SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY Three patients suffered a subclavian arterial thrombosis as a complication of a mild cervical rib syndrome. All three patients had had only mild symptoms for several years preceding the thrombosis. The thrombosis occurred without premonitory increase in symptoms. Surgical intervention should be advised as a prophylactic as well as therapeutic measure whenever a cervical rib produces even mild symptoms and arterial compression in some position can be demonstrated. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png JAMA American Medical Association

Abstract

Three patients suffered a subclavian arterial thrombosis as a complication of a mild cervical rib syndrome.
