Abstract This short volume contains all the proceedings of the Holbrook Memorial Symposium held in Tucson, Ariz, in February 1964. It was the first academic activity at the new medical school of the University of Arizona and was sponsored by the Southwestern Clinic and Research Institute, Inc, which is headed by Donald Hill, MD, the current president of the American Rheumatism Association. Apparently, every word spoken during the conference is faithfully recorded here. Thus, in addition to the formal papers, most of which deal with immunology, there are verbatim discussions. As little of the content of the book is entirely new, these discussions are perhaps the most valuable feature of the book; they elucidate nuances in a manner not normally presented in technical writing. The contributors are impressive, and Charles Stephens, MD, and Mrs. Stanfield who edited the Symposium have taken great pains to produce an attractive volume with magnificent illustrations. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Internal Medicine American Medical Association
