Cardiac Problems and Athletic Participation To the Editor.— A letter from Dr. Peter Gott (211:502,1970) concerns my report entitled, "Relationship of Cardiac Problems to Athletic Participation." I am pleased that this paper stimulated Dr. Gott's communication indicating interest by cardiologists and general physicians in the role of the abnormal electrocardiogram in determining sports participation. As usual, there is always disagreement on any phase of medicine which has been inadequately resolved. This is true in the case of right bundle-branch block (RBBB). I would comment that Dr. Gott selected the least significant aspect of my paper towards which to direct his criticism, for, in truth, I agree with him that the RBBB in the young adult is of little significance unless it has developed in a previously normal electrocardiogram, and I so state this in the report.
