Cardiac Care Units
Abstract
To the Editor.—
Frieden and Cooper (235:816,1976) stated that "recent experiences with monitored cardiac care units have demonstrated that mortality can be reduced in the first few days after an acute myocardial infarction." However, critical review of articles on coronary care units fails to confirm a properly designed trial that supports that statement. Adler et al (Br Med Bull 30:242, 1974), in a review dealing with research on medical care, point out:
