Abstract Levin and a distinguished group of contributors have written a textbook that explores the many faces of cancer in the nervous system. This book reviews the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant primary brain tumors of adults and children, including pituitary tumors, as well as the metastatic and nonmetastatic neurological complications of systemic cancer, including paraneoplastic disorders. Also reviewed are the assessment and management of pain, altered consciousness, organic mental syndromes, and psychiatric disorders in patients with cancer. It concludes with a very useful discussion of psychosocial issues and rehabilitation strategies in patients with neuro-oncological illness. As with most multiauthored texts, some chapters have been prepared in greater depth than others and there are inevitable duplications and some omissions.
