Abstract To the Editor. —With great interest I read Dr. Rubin's letter to the Editor in the May 1967 issue of the Archives (77:711) in which he describes so aptly the finding of with-the-rule astigmatism in a number of his contact lens patients. Though I am sorry for those particular patients of his where he found the trouble, it is nevertheless gratifying to learn that someone else has confirmed my finding as I reported in the December 1965 issue of the American Journal of Ophthalmology (60:1103) and further elaborated in chapter 17 of the newly published book Current Concepts of Ophthalmology edited by Becker and Drew (St. Louis: C. V. Mosby Co., 1967).I have always believed that this is a serious and widespread complication but because of its insidious nature, it has been overlooked by ophthalmologists and I hope this serves to focus the attention of our colleagues http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Ophthalmology American Medical Association
