A record 31 articles reflect the many facets of pharmacology, ranging from a chapter entitled "Rudolf Buchheim and the Beginning of Pharmacology As a Science" to a consideration of the "Application of Quantum Chemistry to Drugs and Their Interactions." Unlike many review articles that are written so that only those actively working in the area can decipher the myriad of information presented, the various chapters in this volume are, in general, very readable and can be enjoyed by those unfamiliar with the particular topic. This reviewer also found the presence of two or more articles on related topics contribute to the comprehensive nature of the volume.
