Abstract WITH THIS issue of the American Journal of Diseases of Children, the editors are introducing two new educational features—the "Picture of the Month" and the "Radiological Case of the Month." Sound medical diagnosis depends upon logical analysis of the facts of the case and not upon snap diagnosis and "conclusion jumping." A vital step in this analytic process is the accumulation of reliable facts concerning the case. Toward this end, skill in observation, both upon physical examination and upon roentgenography is essential. Each month material will be presented in the Journal to permit the reader to formulate a diagnosis or an interpretation based upon his examination of a picture (pictures) or a roentgenogram (roentgenograms). When satisfied that he has gone as far as the evidence permits, he may turn the page, not only to find diagnosis and denouement, but also a discussion to augment his knowledge of the disorder illustrated.
