Aid in Dermabrasion

Aid in Dermabrasion Abstract Taking a hint from the brain surgeons' use of absorbable gelatin sponge (Gelfoam, Upjohn Company), I have found it useful in dermabrasion. Bleeding areas are mopped with gauze, then Gelfoam powder is blown on from a squeeze bottle, mopped again with fairly firm pressure to press the Gelfoam firmly against the bleeding areas, then applied again. Bleeding is considerably reduced. The Upjohn Company wishes it clearly understood that the powder is not quaranteed to be sterile, as for brain surgery. It is, however, sufficiently so to be perfectly safe for this procedure. 464 Beacon St. (15). http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png A.M.A. Archives of Dermatology American Medical Association
