Accidental Burns

Accidental Burns Burns were caused in two patients by an electrocautery used in conjunction with electronic monitoring equipment. The causes of these accidents were found to be faulty equipment with inadequate safety precautions taken to allow for their possible malfunction. Additional safety features are now used to prevent recurrence of similar incidents. These safety measures include an auxiliary electrocautery ground wire and special patient-plate. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png JAMA American Medical Association
