Abstract
Title: Brain Star (2017), Oil on Acrylic, 36 48 inches. In this painting, I drew a visual parallel between the undulating structures of the limbic system and the spirals of the Milky Way. The bright forms on a dark background represent a play on the appearance of immunostained neurons and that of stars in the sky. I aimed to capture the sense of wonder and humility that arise, whether one is yearning to understand the intricacies of the human brain or looking up at the night sky. Sophie A.
