The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the extent to which the internet can democratize news, citizen engagement in media communication, the news attributes of social media, and new policies of information collecting. The results of the current study converge with prior research on the advance of digital news and journalism, social media employment in news gathering, transformative features of the present news environment, and new types of journalistic evidence.
