CRONIN ON THE IMPERATIVE OF TRANSPARENCY AND IMMEDIACY IN TRANSLATION

CRONIN ON THE IMPERATIVE OF TRANSPARENCY AND IMMEDIACY IN TRANSLATION In this paper I am particularly interested in exploring creativity in translation, the relationship between language and translation, and the representation of translation in world cinema. Cronin claims that it is the pressure to translate that is a central rather than a peripheral aspect of experience. Cronin argues that the ludicity of translation highlights aspects of translation that are central to its value for human thought and creativity. Cronin says that motion pictures are a potent source of images and representation of what translation might (not) involve. Abstract

In this paper I am particularly interested in exploring creativity in translation, the relationship between language and translation, and the representation of translation in world cinema. Keywords: Cronin, creativity, translation, language, representation, cinema
