Proposed Neutron Spectrometer in the 10-1000 kev Range BERNARD T. FELD Department of Physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts March 15, 1946 SOME time ago, it occurred to the author that an J exoergic (n, p) reaction might be used for a neutron spectrometer in the following way: a proportional counter is filled with a gas containing a substantial amount of the nucleus undergoing the (n, p) reaction. (Argon could be added to provide for sufficient stopping power to prevent more than a small fraction of the emitted protons from hitting the walls of the chamber.) If the energy of the reaction is Er, and the energy of the neutron causing the reaction En, the total energy TI - The Multiple Production of Neutrons by Cosmic Radiation JF - Physical Review DO - 10.1103/PhysRev.70.429.2 DA - 1946-09-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/american-physical-society-aps/the-multiple-production-of-neutrons-by-cosmic-radiation-bcv6c5vSkN SP - 429 EP - 429 VL - 70 IS - 5-6 DP - DeepDyve
