He is the author of Authorship and Cultural Identity in Early Greece and China: Patterns of Literary Circulation, and is currently at work on a new project on world literature titled An Ecology of Verbal Art. yomi braester is professor of comparative literature and cinema studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is the author of Witness against History: Literature, Film, and Public Discourse in Twentieth-Century China and Painting the City Red: Chinese Cinema and the Urban Contract. david damrosch chairs the Department of Literature and Comparative Literature at Harvard University. A past president of the American Comparative Literature Association, he has written widely on comparative and world literature. His books include The Narrative Covenant: Transformations of Genre in the Growth of Biblical Literature, We Scholars: Changing the Culture of the University,
