AB - Abstract In Reply.—I read Dr McCoid's letter in response to my article entitled "Dabblers in Head and Neck Oncology (A Plea for Added Qualifications)," which appeared in the November 1987 issue of the Archives.1 Dr McCoid in the latter portion of his letter seems to contradict the first portion of his letter, indicating that the medical care is actually not ideal when he states, "perhaps there should be different levels of otolaryngologists with different levels of privileges." This is precisely one of the points in my "Dabbling" article and also in my reply to a previous letter of Dr Crutcher's. Rather than repeat the points of my answer to Dr Crutcher's letter, I would suggest that Dr McCoid go over that response. In short, I agree with Dr McCoid's comments in the last paragraphs of his letter. The initial part of his letter, though, is rather amazing, to say References 1.
