TY - JOUR AU1 - RIX, ROBERT R. AU2 - GESCHICKTER, CHARLES F. AB - Abstract Originally it was intended to present in this study a classification of primary tumors of the spinal column and of tumors metastasizing to the spine or invading it from contiguous structures. However, it soon becomes evident that Ewing's sarcoma of bone in the region of the spinal column presents certain features of special interest. The relation of this condition to tumors of neuroblastic origin has been given detailed consideration. This study has been limited, for clinical reasons, to tumors affecting bone. With patients who have pain in the back or symptoms of pressure on the spinal cord, or both, the roentgen study is usually the deciding factor in diagnosis before operative procedures are undertaken. While excellent articles dealing with the roentgenologic diagnosis of spinal tumors have appeared, most of these have dealt with a single type of tumor. For this reason a composite picture with special reference to the incidence References 1. Schlesinger, H.: Beiträge zur Klinik der Rückenmarks- und Wirbeltumoren , Jena, G. Fischer, 1898. 2.
