Environ. Exercise Physiol. 54( 1): 8093, 1983.-These experiments were designed to study skeletal pathology resulting from -biased exercise in rats. The effects on the s of running on a treadmill on a O incline (similar amounts of concentric contractions), down a 16’ incline (primarily contractions), up a 16’ incline (primarily concentric contractions) at 16 me min-l for 90 min were assessed by following postexercise changes in 1) plasma creatine kinase lactate dehydrogenase activities, 2) glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PDase) (bio- histochemically) in the physiological extensor s, 3) histological appearance of the s.
