To this end, Mataix Ferrándiz studies the perception of the Romans on shipwrecks as events that happen between sea and land, which allows her to access the Roman conception of maritime space, based mainly on the study of the edictum de incendio ruina naufragio rate nave expugnata (edictum de naufra- gio) and the social practices that took place within the maritime landscapes involving indi- viduals of divergent legal statuses, who were affected by shipwrecks. The time frame spans from the Republican period up to the Severan period. The book is an example of interdisciplinarity applied to the study of Roman law.
