MATERIALS AND METHODS RELEASE OF NE FROM PVH OF HYPERTENSIVE RATS phase of hypertension, re- Guide cannuZa implantation. Male (Sasco, St. Louis, MO), , or rats (Taconic Farms, Germantown, NY), ages 6- to 9- or ll- to 13 wk, were anesthetized with ketamine hydrochloride (100 mg/ml) containing acepromazine (10 mg/ml) in a ratio of 2O:l (final dosage of the combined agents, 0.10 ml/100 g body wt), given intraperitoneally. The head of the rat was then placed in a Kopf stereotaxic apparatus with the upper incisor bar set at -1.7 mm below the interaural line. On the basis of the stereotaxic coordinates of Paxinos and Watson (22) for the localization of the PVH (anterior = 0.3 mm, lateral = 1.1 mm, vertical = 8.0 mm), a l-mm burr hole was drilled in the skull through which a 25gauge guide cannula (with screw-on top) was lowered at a 6” angle, 0.5 mm dorsal to the PVH. The guide cannula was attached to the skull with quick-dry epoxy cement, and cannula patency was maintained by inserting a dummy cannula into the guide cannula. The animal was allowed to recover, housed individually, and maintained TI - Release of norepinephrine from the paraventricular hypothalamic nucleus of hypertensive rats JF - AJP - Heart and Circulatory Physiology DA - 1988-05-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/the-american-physiological-society/release-of-norepinephrine-from-the-paraventricular-hypothalamic-zduJfniw9O VL - 254 IS - DP - DeepDyve ER -
