Our edition based on CONFINTEA VI (edited by Carolyn Medel-An ˜ onuevo, Carlos Alberto Torres and Richard Desjardins) addressed the policy and practice implications of the Sixth International Conference on Adult Education, which took place in Brazil in December 2009 – and in particular how adult education policy-makers and providers would interpret the commitments made by UNESCO Member States when they adopted the Bele´m Framework for Action.
