TY - JOUR AU - Boivin, Guy AB - AbstractCatches of adult carrot rust flies, Psila rosae (F.), in sticky traps determined that this pest is present throughout the carrot-growing regions of Québec, although its populations are very small in some areas. Two distinct periods of adult activity were recorded, indicating two adult generations per year. When summation for 4 yr of degree-days (DD) above 3°C started 1 April, overwintering adults appeared at 361.8 ± 33.1 DD and 50% of the captures were made at 515.3 ± 47.2 DD. The first-generation catch started at 1554.8 ± 156.0 DD and 50% of the capture was reached at 1800.0 ± 155.6 DD. Sowing dates of carrots had no significant effects on the percentage of second-generation carrot rust fly damage at harvest time.
