These statements are supported by the increase of six pages in the index. How, then, has the compression been achieved ? Apparently to a large extent by the condensation of the earlier chapters dealing with anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnosis and physical methods of treatment, so tha t the first chapter dealing with actual dermatoses is now Chapter V and starts on p. 77, whereas previously the same chapter was number XI and started on p. 255. This compression we think is all to the good. We are not so happy about the other way in which space has been economized, viz. by the total omission of all the bibliographies which were such a useful feature of the first edition. Comparing a number of articles in the new edition A\'ith the corresponding ones in the old we have no hesitation in saying that the new ones are better, and we can thoroughly recommend the book.
