It is a significant contribution to education and development in a fast-changing world where the power of states is progressively waning and where a large number of countries are confronting colossal challenges of fragility, conflict and postmodern crises, with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) filling in gaps unattended to by either weak or unconcerned states. The book is presented in a simple and readily understandable style and encourages the reader to reflect upon some of the issues it highlights. The questions at the end of each chapter serve to highlight the most pertinent issues tackled but also to enter into dialogue with the authors, hence creating an interactive space.
