AB - Sibutramine offers a new opportunity to provide a comprehensive weight reduction programme for many overweight and obese patients. A methodical and team approach to managing patients on sibutramine plus diet and exercise should hold the key to the best use of this adjunctive therapy in real clinical practice. This paper provides an overview of how to care for patients who are in need of weight management, and shows that simple measures and well organised, good clinical practice are all that is required to achieve clinically important weight reduction and longer term care.
