All the foregoing machines use volumetric filling arrangements whereby an exact measured quantity of the product is discharged into the container, as compared with the usual method of filling glass bottles in which the bottle makes a seal with and opens the filling valve, and is used as the measure. On a volumetric filler the container does not need to make contact with the filling valve or have any pressure exerted on it, and consequently it can be of much lighter construction than a glass bottle, while any distortion due to pressure or vacuum does not affect the quantity of the filled pack.
