TY - JOUR AU - Peshwe, Dilip Ramkrishna AB - The performance enhancement of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) blends using different impact modifiers was studied using various analytical tools. A comparison of the obtained impact resistance data was performed. A significant increase in toughness using 10% Elvaloy AC in a 60–40 PET and PBT blend was observed. In addition, a good combination of tensile strength and impact strength was observed in the 60–40 PET and PBT blend using polypropylene co-polymer B220 MN as an impact modifier. An attempt was also been made to investigate the chemical formulations of the constituent materials and the newly formed blends using the qualitative technique of Fourier transformed infrared studies. The results of the mechanical studies of the newly formed blends were also correlated with those of the morphological, structural and thermal analysis performed in the present investigation.
