TY - JOUR AU - Neubert, Colette AB - The effects of laser-induced interstitial thermal therapy are based on the thermal effects in the tissue masses that are subjected to therapy. To conduct the therapy efficiently, it is necessary to function with optimum system parameters. As a result, these parameters have to be determined in advance. We introduce a software that allows us in different geometries to determine the distribution of the laser energy absorbed by the tissue and to undertake the calculations related to the thermal processes. This calculation follows as the function of up to three local coordinates selectively for the steady state and/or the transient processes. the method has been verified, and based on this, a planning system is presently being developed. A measuring device for the in-vitro determination of the thermal conductivity with dependence on the temperature change with respect to time will also be presented.
