Part of that emphasis requires a betterunderstanding of the basic concepts that are used to add value toproducts and services that are consumed in the channel system. Presentsa conceptualization which can be used to integrate concepts fromproductionoperations management and logistics management for thepurpose of understanding the linkages that exist between these twoapplied disciplines. The conceptual structure is based on anunderstanding of the management of capacity and movement at both thefirm and channel levels which can help the academic and practitionerview the commonalities between their responsibilities and those of otherchannel members.
