V~ Yurchenko Improving the quality and service characteristics of glass tubes is an urgent problem whose solution would make it possible to extend the field of application of such tubes in the national economy. To design economical and better production processes using both exist- ing and new compositions of glass it is necessary to find an efficient combination of param- eters for the molding and cooling of the products. The aim of the present study was to investigate the possibility of increasing the drawing rate of glass tubes by intensifying the cooling of the drawn tubes. In the current production process for the manufacture of tubes by vertical drawing upwards they are cooled from the outside by heat-exchange. Air is supplied inside the tubes for cooling. A simple increase in the drawing rate leads to a situation where the geometric dimensions of the tubes change and the heat flow arriving from the melt with the glass in- creases. To increase the heat loss by supplying additional air inside the tube is also impossible since the thickness of the walls of the tube and its diameter both TI - Effectiveness of methods used to cool glass tubes JF - Glass and Ceramics DO - 10.1007/BF00699402 DA - 2004-11-10 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/effectiveness-of-methods-used-to-cool-glass-tubes-uY00l8RHBg SP - 339 EP - 343 VL - 43 IS - 8 DP - DeepDyve ER -
