TY - JOUR AU - Stern, V. M. AB - AbstractTwelve sticky traps were placed around a mile-square safflower field in 1969 to monitor Lygus hesperus Knight and L. elisus Van Duzee flight activity. A total of 1638 Lygus was captured on the traps, of which 842 were L. elisus and 796 were L. hesperus. Over half of both species were caught between 1 and 4 feet above ground. No correlation was noted between direction of flight and prevailing wind. The studies indicate that L. elisus is a much more active flyer than L. hesperus. A very pronounced crepuscular flight behavior was noted for both species.
