TY - JOUR AB - In the last number of the Review, we started to give a survey of recent trends and developments in education and educational research in certain countries and areas of the world. In the present issue we are continuing this undertaking, but we are well aware of the fact that, even with two full issues devoted to this task, it will still remain incomplete. We hope, however, that the articles and communications presented together in these two issues will serve to give new and up-to-date insight into some major problems of school education today in the light of comparative education. Trevor Miller, Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Sydney, in his article on changes in secondary education in Australia, surveys the whole continent and gives a detailed picture of recent developments of education in the individual states of this country. This allows several interesting comparisons between the states, e.g. the introduction of a comprehensive type of school as contrasted with a multi-lateral type of internal organisation.
