TY - JOUR AU - Cramer, Kathleen M. AB - 298 Abstracts sessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) with 47 students referred for learning diffi- culties. The K-ABC was selected as the criterion measure because of its recent norming, neuropsychological foundation, and factor analytic base that allows some construct specificity between mental processing abilities and academic achievement. A comparison of zero order correlations between these subareas revealed a signifi- cantly (p < .05) more substantial relationship between the PPVT-R and the achieve- ment scale of the K-ABC (r= .78), than when other K-ABC scales were considered (r= .42, .52, .53, .23). Moreover, in an effort to further examine the relationship between the PPVTR and the constructs measured by the K-ABC, a step-wise multi- ple regression was calculated with the summary scores of the K-ABC serving as the predictor variables of the PPVT-R. In this analysis the K-ABC Achievement scale was the only significant predictor of the PPVT-R (R = .78). So too, the partialing out of achievement variability produced a nonsignificant relationship between the PPVT- R and all the other subscales of the K-ABC. Implications for clinicians were dis- cussed. Clinical Utility of the HRNB in the Differential Diagnosis of Affective Depression. Jeffrey W.
