TY - JOUR AU - Smith, E. Marie AB - BLOOD CELL COUNTS AND HEMOGLOBIN VALUE IN NORMAL AN D DIABETIC DOGS* E . MARIE SMITH, M.T. From the Department of Surgery of the University of Chicago I. ERYTHROCYTE COUNT, LEUKOCYTE COUNT AND HEMOGLOBIN VALUE OF NORMAL DOGS Blood studies were conducted weekly on 6 apparently normal dogs over a period ranging from three to six weeks, with a view to recording further experi mental data on the average value for blood cell counts and hemoglobin in normal dogs. 2,3 Menkin, Kadish, and Sommers found the average leukocyte count of normal dogs to range from 11,900 to 22,450 in studies on 15 normal dogs. Wells and Sutton gave the normal leukocyte count as 11,000 to 12,400 in adult dogs, while Mayerson (1930) in a study of 60 normal dogs gave the average leukocyte count as 11,165. Wintrobe found the average erythrocyte count to be 7.35 millions in a study of 3 normal male dogs. Wells and Sutton gave the normal erythrocyte count as 5.60 to 7.60 millions; Burnett (1917) gave the normal red cell count as 6.00 millions; and Mayerson (1930), the average erythrocyte count as 6.16 millions. Mayerson gave the average hemoglobin value as 13.01 grams per 100 TI - Blood Cell Counts and Hemoglobin Value in Normal and Diabetic Dogs JF - American Journal of Clinical Pathology DO - 10.1093/ajcp/16.7.457 DA - 1946-07-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/oxford-university-press/blood-cell-counts-and-hemoglobin-value-in-normal-and-diabetic-dogs-sJ7qbWqiNW SP - 457 EP - 461 VL - 16 IS - 7 DP - DeepDyve ER -
