Zheltov* At the Salavatsk Machine-building Plant the body, bottom, fittings, and ports of condensation towers 1200 ram in diameter are manufactured from two-layer metal VSt.3 + NMZhMts28-2.5-1.5 10 mm thick (ChMTU/TsNIIChM 1061-63). Longitudinal and circular seams in the body, sealing rings 1200 and i400 mm in diameter, and fit- tings 200-400 mm in diameter are welded with an automatic submerged arc welder. Hand welding is used only to weld the connecting pipes and fittings to the body. The welding procedure was selected in order to prevent melting beneath the cladding layer (otherwise the seams crack) and to minimize the amount of carbon steel in the Monel weld seams (the corrosion resis- tance is sharply impaired when the seams contain over 4% Fe). The welds are V-groove with an opening of 100 ~ Flux AN-348A is used for all five passes. Flux AN-26 is unsuitable because of poor bead forma- tion and slag separation and because more Fe passes into the monel seam, which lowers the corrosion resistance of the seam. The units being assembled are tack welded on the carbon steel side TI - Automatic welding of chemical equipment clad with Monel JF - Chemical and Petroleum Engineering DO - 10.1007/BF01137176 DA - 2005-01-27 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/automatic-welding-of-chemical-equipment-clad-with-monel-sGkefKaG9D SP - 862 EP - 862 VL - 4 IS - 10 DP - DeepDyve ER -
